| Dimension | Surfais | Scrunch AI |
|---|---|---|
| AI engines included | All five on every plan, including the £69 Starter: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. | Engine coverage is stated inconsistently across Scrunch's own pricing page and FAQ as at 6 September 2026. The live pricing page lists ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta as included across plans; a separate FAQ page, using older tier names, describes 4 LLMs on the entry plan and 9 on Enterprise. Check the current position with them directly. |
| Engine gating | None. No engine add-ons and no engine unlocks by tier. | Not established. See the row above; we are not willing to state Scrunch's gating as fact. |
| Entry price | £69/mo Starter, ex-VAT. Growth £199, Scale £479, Enterprise from £1,999. 15% off annual. | $250/mo on annual billing, or $300 month-to-month, for Starter. Growth $417/mo annual or $500 monthly. Enterprise custom. |
| Prompts at entry price | 20 prompts, 1 brand, 1 country, 2 competitors. Extra prompts £6 each on brand tiers. | 350 custom prompts plus 1,000 industry prompts at Starter, with 3 personas and 5 page audits. Growth is 700 custom and 2,500 industry prompts. |
| Seats | Not published. Plans are scoped by brands, prompts, countries and competitors rather than by seat. | 3 seats at Starter, 5 at Growth. Additional seats $25/mo each. Per-seat model, not unlimited. |
| Refresh cadence | Twice weekly on brand tiers, weekly on Agency Mode, daily on Enterprise. | Not published. |
| Published score methodology | AIS Score weights are published and versioned. Version 2, dated 10 June 2026: Visibility 60%, Position 15%, Sentiment 10%, Share of voice 15%. Published at surfais.com/methodology. | No published methodology for the visibility or share-of-answer score found as at 6 September 2026. |
| Free trial | 7 days, no card. 1 brand, one weekly scan plus two manual scans, one audit. | 7 days. The card requirement is stated inconsistently across their own pages, so we do not state it. |
| Agency / white-label | Agency Mode at £59 per client brand, minimum 5 brands, 20 prompts each, pooled. White-label reporting is scheduled to ship at the end of September 2026 and is not live. | Agency Core at $500/mo and an Agency Enterprise tier. Explicit white-label — an agency-branded AI search product — plus multi-brand workspaces, bulk CSV client import, guest client access, a prospecting licence and referral commission up to 20%. |
| API and integrations | No public API, no MCP server and no Looker Studio connector. | Enterprise Data API and SAML/OIDC SSO at Enterprise. The Agent Experience Platform intercepts AI crawlers at CDN level, integrating with Akamai, Cloudflare and Vercel. |
| Security certifications | None. No SOC 2 and no ISO 27001 — SOC 2 is budgeted, not achieved. No SSO or SAML. | No SOC 2 or GDPR certification found. SSO available at Enterprise. |
| Company stage | Early-stage UK company. Small customer base, no published customer count, no named enterprise logos. | Series A led by Decibel in July 2025 with Mayfield and Homebrew. Total raised is stated inconsistently between their press release and their own about page, so we give no figure. Claims 500+ customers; publishes an enterprise and university customer list. Salt Lake City. |

Entry cost is the first difference. Scrunch starts at $250 a month on annual billing, or $300 month-to-month, for three seats and 350 custom prompts. Surfais starts at £69 with twenty prompts and all five engines. Those are different shapes of product — Scrunch is buying you prompt volume, we are buying you engine completeness at low commitment — but if you want to establish whether you have an AI visibility problem before spending a quarter's budget on it, the gap is large.
The second difference is that we can tell you exactly what you are buying. Scrunch's engine coverage is stated inconsistently between their live pricing page and their FAQ as at 6 September 2026, and their refresh cadence is not published at all. We are not going to characterise their gating from that, because we cannot do it honestly. But a buyer needs those two facts, and getting them means a sales conversation. Surfais publishes five engines on every tier and a cadence of twice weekly, weekly on Agency Mode and daily on Enterprise.
Third, method. We found no published methodology for the Scrunch visibility or share-of-answer score. Surfais publishes its weights, versions them, and revised them downward in June 2026 against its own interest.
Scrunch has built things we have not, and one of them is genuinely ahead of the field.
The Agent Experience Platform. Scrunch intercepts AI crawlers at the CDN layer, integrating with Akamai, Cloudflare and Vercel, audits whether agents can actually parse your site, and can generate an AI-friendly version of it. That is a materially deeper capability than crawler log analysis, and nothing in Surfais does anything comparable. If your problem is that agents cannot read your site properly, Scrunch addresses the cause rather than the symptom.
Agency product. Agency Core at $500 a month and an Agency Enterprise tier, with explicit white-label, multi-brand workspaces, bulk CSV client import, guest client access, a prospecting licence and referral commission up to 20%. Surfais has Agency Mode at £59 per client brand, but our white-label reporting does not ship until the end of September 2026. Theirs is live now.
Prompt volume. 350 custom plus 1,000 industry prompts at Starter, against our twenty at £69. Per prompt, Scrunch is far cheaper.
Enterprise plumbing. SAML/OIDC SSO and an Enterprise Data API. We have neither.
Standing. A Series A led by Decibel with Mayfield and Homebrew, a claimed 500+ customers, and a published enterprise customer list.
Choose Scrunch AI if your problem is agent access as much as brand perception. The Agent Experience Platform is the strongest technical capability discussed on any of these pages, and if you run a large site behind Akamai, Cloudflare or Vercel and suspect AI crawlers are struggling with it, that alone justifies the price. Agencies wanting a live white-label product today should also look at them before us.
Choose Surfais if you want to start small, know precisely which engines you are paying for, and read the formula behind your score. At £69 you can find out whether this matters to your business before committing $3,000 a year.
Ask Scrunch directly for their current engine list, their refresh cadence and their trial terms in writing. Those three answers should decide it, and we would rather you got them from them than took our reading of pages that disagree with each other.
Scrunch AI, based in Salt Lake City, monitors and works to improve brand visibility in AI search. It measures competitor share of answer, supports personas, and reports citations at both domain and page level. Its distinguishing product is the Agent Experience Platform: rather than only tracking what engines say, it intercepts AI crawlers at the CDN layer through integrations with Akamai, Cloudflare and Vercel, audits whether agents can parse the site, and can serve an AI-friendly version. It raised a Series A led by Decibel in July 2025 with Mayfield and Homebrew participating, and claims more than 500 customers.
Surfais is a UK measurement product covering five engines on every plan, with a published and versioned score and a monthly deep-dive audit at every tier.
Two facts a buyer needs are not currently resolvable from Scrunch's public pages. Their live pricing page lists ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta as included across plans. A separate FAQ page, still using older tier names, describes four LLMs on the entry plan and nine on Enterprise. Those two statements cannot both be a current description of the same product, and we have no basis for choosing between them.
Their refresh cadence is not published anywhere we could find, and the free trial's card requirement is stated differently on different pages. Rather than pick the reading that suits us, we have left those rows empty and flagged them. Websites drift, particularly for fast-shipping companies, and this is a documentation problem rather than a product one. But if you are building a business case, get those answers in writing before you sign.
Scrunch's centre of gravity is technical: making a site legible to agents and monitoring what happens when they visit. Surfais's centre of gravity is measurement: what do the five engines say about you, how has that changed, and can you show the number to a board and defend how it was built. Neither replaces the other. A large e-commerce or enterprise site with a real crawler problem should probably fix that first, and Scrunch is better placed to help with it than we are.
We found no published methodology for Scrunch's visibility or share-of-answer score as at 6 September 2026. That is a statement about disclosure, not about accuracy; plenty of unpublished methods are perfectly sound.
Surfais publishes the AIS weights — Visibility 60%, Position 15%, Sentiment 10%, Share of voice 15%, version 2 dated 10 June 2026 — versions them so changes are visible, and recalibrated downward in June 2026 after finding that a customer with six mentions across sixty-nine runs was being scored as competitive. The IAB's August 2026 framework calls measurement decision-grade when it is reproducible, disclosed and versioned. That is the test we are asking to be judged against.
No SOC 2, no ISO 27001, no SSO, no public API or MCP server, no Looker Studio connector, twice-weekly refresh below Enterprise, white-label reporting not live until the end of September 2026, and a far smaller company and customer base. On prompts per pound, Scrunch is considerably better value, and their agency programme is further along than ours.
