The clearest difference sits at the entry point. Surfais includes ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews on every plan, including the £69 Starter. Peec offers twelve models but lets you run three of them below Enterprise, so a Starter or Pro customer is choosing, in advance, which engines to be blind to. If you want Claude and Gemini tracked alongside ChatGPT from day one without a tier upgrade, Surfais does that below Peec's entry price.
The second difference is method. The AIS Score publishes its weights — Visibility 60%, Position 15%, Sentiment 10%, Share of voice 15% in version 2, dated 10 June 2026 — and versions them, so a score can be reproduced and a change can be explained rather than announced. That version was a downward recalibration: a customer with six mentions across sixty-nine runs had been reading as competitive, which flattered them and, commercially, flattered us. As at 6 September 2026 we found no published weighting formula for a Peec composite score.
Surfais is priced at a premium per prompt and we would rather argue that than hide it: twenty prompts at £69 buys deliberate prompt design and full engine coverage rather than volume.
Peec is the better-resourced product and several rows go to them without argument.
Cadence. Peec runs every prompt once every 24 hours per selected model. Surfais refreshes twice weekly below Enterprise. If you publish weekly and want next-day feedback on what changed, that gap is real and it matters.
Seats. Peec includes unlimited seats on every tier. Surfais does not publish a seat allowance at all.
Integrations. Peec ships a REST API, an MCP server and a Looker Studio connector. Surfais has none of the three. If your board reporting lives in Looker Studio, or you want an agent to query visibility data directly, Peec can do that today and we cannot.
Adjacent data. Peec monitors AI crawler traffic across more than forty bots, offers SKU-level AI shopping analytics, separates sources that were used from sources that were cited, drills to URL-level citations, and covers 80+ regions.
Scale. A $21M Series A led by Singular in November 2025, a claimed 3,000+ brands, a 4.9/5 G2 rating and a published European enterprise customer list. Their agency programme, with white-label dashboards, is live today; ours ships white-label at the end of September 2026.
Choose Peec AI if you are a marketing team at a larger brand or an agency running many client dashboards, you need daily refresh, unlimited seats and Looker Studio reporting, and you want AI crawler and shopping analytics in the same tool. If your reporting stack already assumes an API or an MCP server, Peec is the only one of the two that answers.
Choose Surfais if engine coverage matters more than refresh frequency — if being able to see Claude and Gemini at £69 a month is worth more to you than seeing three chosen engines every twenty-four hours — and if you want a headline score whose formula you can read, reproduce and challenge.
A fair way to decide: if you would be uncomfortable naming which three engines you are prepared to ignore for the next twelve months, that is the row to weight.
Peec AI, based in Berlin, describes itself as AI search analytics for marketing teams. It is a broad analytics suite: visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice, a distinction between sources an engine used and sources it cited, prompt tagging by intent, query fan-outs, AI crawler monitoring across more than forty bots, and SKU-level shopping analytics. It raised a $21M Series A in November 2025 and claims more than three thousand brands.
Surfais is a UK product that measures how the five main AI answer engines describe a brand, and scores the result on a published 0–100 scale. It is smaller, newer and narrower. It has no API, no MCP server and no Looker Studio connector, and it refreshes twice weekly rather than daily below Enterprise.
The two products make opposite trades. Peec sells breadth of tooling and depth of refresh, and rations engine access to structure its tiers: three models of twelve below Enterprise. Surfais sells engine completeness and prompt quality, and rations prompt volume instead: twenty prompts at the entry tier, at £6 for each additional prompt, but never a locked engine.
Which trade is right depends on how your brand is actually being described. If ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews are where your buyers are and Claude is irrelevant to you, Peec's three-model selection costs you nothing and its daily cadence is a straightforward advantage. If you sell to developers, to technical buyers, or into markets where Claude and Gemini carry weight, choosing three engines is choosing a blind spot, and it is a blind spot you will not detect from inside the product.
The IAB's August 2026 framework calls a measurement decision-grade when it is reproducible, disclosed and versioned. That is a useful test because it is unflattering. Surfais publishes the AIS weights, versions them, and recalibrated them downward in June 2026 after finding that a customer with six mentions in sixty-nine runs was being described as competitive — a change that made our own product look worse to an existing customer, which is exactly why it is worth stating.
We found no published weighting formula for a Peec composite score as at 6 September 2026. Peec are, however, clear about one methodological choice that many vendors are not: they state they use UI scraping rather than APIs, in order to simulate real user interactions. That is a substantive disclosure and worth having.
Every figure on this page was read from each vendor's own pages on 6 September 2026. Prices in this category move quickly — Surfais itself repriced twice in August 2026 — and comparison pages of all kinds, ours included, go stale. Peec's pricing is in US dollars and Surfais's in pounds sterling; we have not converted either, because a conversion invented on a marketing page is a number nobody can check.
Read the table as a starting point for your own diligence, not a substitute for it. If a row here matters to your decision, confirm it on the vendor's own site before you sign anything.
